Family, friends, and members of the Branchland, West Virginia community are mourning the tragic loss of Barry Brunty, 62, who died following a fatal mowing accident in Lincoln County on Saturday.
According to West Virginia State Police, troopers from the Hamlin Detachment responded to a residence on Isaacs Lane in Branchland after receiving a call from Lincoln County 911 reporting a death investigation. Investigators said Brunty was operating a zero-turn mower when it reportedly slid over an embankment and into a creek, trapping him underneath the machine.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and performed CPR before Brunty was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for further treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that Brunty’s family has been notified of his passing. Officials also stated that no foul play is suspected, and the incident remains under investigation as authorities review the circumstances surrounding the accident.
