Chicago police say a 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a shooting that left four children injured in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city’s South Side.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 9:39 p.m. on Saturday in the 4500 block of South Prairie Avenue. Police reported that four juveniles were wounded in the shooting: an 11-year-old boy, two 13-year-old boys, and a 14-year-old boy.
The suspect was taken into custody about 20 minutes after the incident. Chicago police confirmed that the juvenile has been charged with four counts of aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, and additional related charges.
Authorities said the suspect is scheduled to appear in juvenile court on Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather evidence and review the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
